Numerous legends lead us to believe that wine-making has
existed in the region since the dawn of time. As early as 582, Gregoire
de Tours indicated in writing the presence of the vineyard in Sancerre but
it was in the 12 the century that the wine industry really developed thanks to the monks from St Satur and the Counts of Sancerre. having
qualified AOC in 1936, Sancerre today has three different types of soil
covering 2500 hectares. |
