La Borne is incontestably the fief of the pottery region. The original
pottery, essentially utilitarian, was baked in wood ovens of 20-70 m3. The
most fruitful period was from the middle of the 17th century to the end of
the 19th. Unfortunately the activity began to collapse in the 40s but a
new generation of artists with new talents revived the activity. The
people of La Borne are still hard workers but have also retained a
recalcitrant and festive spirit as anyone witnessing their carnivals or
festivals will testify.
